Hello Dali!
FOR IMMEDIATE
RELEASE: 30th APRIL 2004
In
celebration of the 2004 centenary of Salvador Dalí’s
birth Dalí Universe presents the critically acclaimed one
man show Hello Dalí in June.
Brilliantly written by Andrew Dallmeyer, and seamlessly directed
by Charles Baillie CBE, Hello Dalí sees actor Tom Jude encapsulate
the audience in a thrilling journey through the life and times of
Salvador Dalí, but with as twist…
In
true surrealist fashion the show starts with the death of Dalí
and works backwards to his birth with the help of audience intervention.
Pick a number and be transported, sight and sound into the mystical
and hysterical mind of the worlds most famous, flamboyant and fascinating
icon.
“Hello
Dalí is a brilliant example of the timeless and universal
appeal of Salvador Dalí,” Andrea Pedroni, Managing
Director of County Hall Gallery said.
“To
see this unique character in such a funny, animated performance,
the audience really gets to see into the mind of Dalí, which
reveals a whole new dimension of understanding when they look at
the huge melting clocks, sculptures and artworks around them in
the Dalí Universe.”
Hello
Dalí has been at Edinburgh Festival since 2000 - previous
reviews hailed the show:
“Inspiring
and quick-witted…Leave pets, prudes and fainthearted at home
and come see this show *****” Edinburgh guide 2003
“In this production Dali remains as relevant today as he ever
was – you shouldn’t miss it – Brilliant ****”
The Scotsman
“Surrealism
is here in a wonderful multi-media format – marvellously arrogant
and brilliantly persuasive ****” Evening news
