| The
Big Dalí Draw
FOR
IMMEDIATE RELEASE: 6th October 2004
Join
in the Big Draw at Dalí Universe on London’s South
Bank for a surreal day out.
As
part of the National Big Draw Campaign 2004 Dalí Universe
invites you to try your hand at some typical mark making techniques
as used by Salvador Dalí.
Dalí
worked with a variety of apparatus to create his art works even
painting with octopuses and his own moustache. In producing the
series of 12 Don Quichotte lithographs on exhibit at Dalí
Universe, Dalí used a Haquebus paint gun over calcareous
slate and snails dipped in paint.
The
big Draw campaign was born in 2000 by the Guild of St George - a
charity founded by John Ruskin. The aim is not to teach people how
to draw but how to see. The Big Draw 2004 will take place nation
wide from 11th to 15th October.
Andrea
Pedroni, Managing Director of County Hall Gallery said:
“At
Dalí Universe we want all our visitors, young and old to
engage in some of the mark making techniques that Dalí used
which will give a greater appreciation of the range and talent of
the surrealist master.”
Dalí
Universe is the world’s largest collection of Dalí
sculptures with over 500 works covering 50 years of surrealism including
graphics, illustrations, watercolours, furniture and crystal. The
Dalí big draw is free to take part with a ticket to the Dalí
