ACTIVITY SHEETS

County Hall Gallery has developed a series of activity sheets to suit all age groups, and encourage students to question and explore the works they see in the exhibition. Here is a sample of some questions that appear on these activity sheets. For a full set of activity sheets, contact us on 020 7450 7617 or email groups@countyhallgallery.com.

- Who wrote the book Alice in Wonderland?

- What material has Dali used to make the Alice in Wonderland sculpture?

- Why do you think Dali has given Alice hands and hair made of roses, rather than real hands and hair?

- What year was the first Lobster Telephone made?

- Why do you think Dali chose a lobster?

- Do you think Dali intended the Lobster Telephone to be functional or purely aesthetic?

- Look at the melted clock on the Profile of Time sculpture. What else can you see apart from a melted clock? (hint: think about the name of the sculpture when trying to find an image other than that of the clock).

- Dali uses melting clocks in a lot of his artwork. What do you think the melting clock symbolises?
